BAPTIST CHURCH
STATEMENT OF FAITH: WHAT WE BELIEVE
1. The Scriptures:
We believe that the books of the Old and New Testaments were written by men, verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original autographs, and are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

2. God:
We believe that God is one in nature and eternally exists as three in Person-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. Jesus Christ:
a) We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, born of the virgin Mary, come to redeem us from our sin and separation from God.
b) We believe that Jesus Christ assuredly performed the miracles recorded in Scripture.
c) We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead the third day.

4. Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sins, righteousness, and judgment, and that He regenerates, seals, and baptizes believers into the body of Christ.

5. Humanity:
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but through the temptation of Satan, he transgressed God’s command and fell from his original state, thus become a sinner.

6. Salvation:
We believe that Salvation is a gift of God received by grace through faith in Christ alone and not by works, and that all who believe are eternally secured in Him.
We believe for man to be saved, he must repent of his sin and believe and confess Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior.

7. Baptism:
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

8. Return of Christ:
We believe that Jesus Christ will return bodily to this earth at the end of the age.
Based upon the interpretation of Scripture, the following specific issues are affirmed further.
Creation
We affirm that the universe, visible and invisible, is a result of God’s special creative work. He sustains all things through His power and providence (Gen 1:1).
Sexuallity
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each individual as either male or female and that these two distinct, complimentary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God
(Gen 1:26-27).
Marriage
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as described in Scripture
(Gen. 2:18-25).
We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:9-10; Heb. 13:4).
We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God
(Mat. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-11).
